Job Description

Our client is a growing ladieswear brand based in Leicestershire looking to recruit an experienced Merchandiser/Production Controller.  This opportunity seeks a self-motivated, ‘can do’ individual who would relish taking ownership of the process and making things happen.

Merchandiser/Production Controller – The Job Description

  • Processing new orders from customers.  Ensuring styles, quantities, sizes, selling prices and agreed delivery dates are correct.
  • Completing and confirming pre-order list for the agent/factories and internal team, and passing all information needed for the order (agreed cost price, shipment date style reference, quantity per size, added customer tolerance, special instruction for delivery, payment terms)
  • Working closely with the design and technology team to ensure realistic and accurate dates are added for each critical date for the production process
  • Seasonal analysis of Best/Poor sellers to enable forecasting and planning and matched against budget.
  • Hold weekly critical path meetings to identify any issues that may impact on delivery dates, and communicate with the agent/ factory to speed up the processes where needed
  • Creating progress reports and liaising on a daily basis with the factory, discussing production and delivery issues and looking for ways of improvement.
  • Keep customers updated on order progress, advise of intake delays and request delivery extensions
  • Analyse customer manuals and extract information related to the product packaging, boxing, labelling, delivery standards and order related to the order customer requirements. Coordinate and arrange the packing, labelling for stock orders.
  • Provide factories with bulk packing instructions
  • Keep records of stock availabilities and liaising with the customer for PO receipt deadlines
  • Establish deadlines for stock offers and preparing spreadsheets to control the stock buys. Replenish web stock from bulk
  • Monitor freight costs and shipment arrangements prior to goods leaving the factory.
  • Approve dispatch of shipments with the forwarders and ensure the UK arrival is in line with the customer delivery date.
  • Update the Sale Order Tracker with new orders or proposed orders and keep accurate record of costs, sale values and margins. Hold weekly meetings with Finance Director.

Merchandiser/Production Controller – The Person Specification

  • A proven background within  a similar manufacturing/production or merchandising position (min. 4-5yrs )
  • Previous experience within fashion or textiles.
  • Strong critical path management
  • Widely experienced in working with offshore manufacturers
  • Highly organised, strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Confident communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Self-motivated, able to prioritise and manage own workload and a proactive approach to tasks
  • A good team player, with a positive ‘can do attitude’ to their work and is adaptable to new challenges.
  • Microsoft SmartSuite (Office) EXCEL competency is essential.
  • A knowledge of SAGE would be advantageous.
