The Brief : 

Our client is a well-respected international clothing manufacturer were looking for a confident, enthusiastic Designer to join their successful and growing in house design team. They were looking for someone who could work on their own initiative and have autonomy across ranges,. Working as part of a small a friendly and creative team across trend and colour, this person would be  confident managing multiple accounts and building relationships with the High Street Fashion Retail Buyers.

Womenswear Woven Designer – The Role Spec:

  • Research, Identify and translate current trends.
  • Working on seasonal mood, colour and trend boards.
  • Designing commercial, multi product, trend led ranges to present to clients.
  • Source and develop new fabric and trims at the start of the season.
  • Produce accurate and detailed sketches / CADS and tech packs
  • Monitoring range and customer sampling through from start to finish.
  • Attend and present in customer meetings   
  • Build strong relationships with clients.
  • Developing both new and existing accounts.
  • Liaise with teams in factories. 
  • Have a good knowledge of garment construction and fabric 

Womenswear Woven Designer – The Candidate:  

  • Flexibility to travel within the UK, Europe and the Far East.
  • Ladies soft woven background is essential.
  • Proven ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise workloads.
  • Familiar working with a variety of UK High Street clients.
  • Driven and Passionate Ability to spot trends and translate them
  • Creative and trend driven
  • Ability to confidently communicate and lead meetings with buyers
  • Competent user of both adobe photoshop and illustrator with exceptional CAD skills
  • Exceptional presentation / CAD skills.
  • Attention to detail is a must. 

Our Approach :

We conducted a search of our network, advertised the job on our website, used a couple of key job boards and produced a shortlist of 12 candidates, 9 were invited to the first interview, 5 completed design projects, and 4 of the 5 invited to the second interview stage. An offer was made and the successful candidate started 2 weeks later. The campaign took 14 weeks from instruction to offer acceptance.
