Job Description

My client is a well-established, reputable fashion accessories business, who work with some exciting high street retailers – from fast trend led fashion, to mid-market, to more premium customers, across men, women and children. Due to continued growth and success, they are now looking for a creative, motivated Assistant to help in their busy Design Team. This is an amazing opportunity for a hardworking, proactive candidate who is eager to learn and wants to break into the exciting world of fashion accessories.

Assistant Designer – The Role:

  • Working with the design team to pull together and communicate the latest trends, covering all genders
  • Collating in-season micro trend information and catwalk analysis for team development
  • Work closely with the team to develop design material and fabric/trim libraries
  • Supporting in customer meeting prep – showroom dressing, trend pack collating, initial design work
  • Showroom and sample room maintenance - ensuring all samples, swatches and trims are organized and kept in the right place
  • Assist the Design team with administration and paperwork
  • Working with CAD software to amend CADs, and pull together range plans for customers
  • Liaising with factories to support product development and fabric/trim sourcing
  • Reporting on comparative shop findings, and supporting the design team in follow up from inspiration Far East and European development trips
  • Sample photography, for development archives and company trend report use
  • Marketing support – assisting in creating content for social media platforms and product brochures

Assistant Designer – The Person:

  • Basic knowledge on Adobe CAD software/freehand skills
  • Fashion related degree
  • Applicants must be commercially aware
  • I am ideally looking for a Designer with some experience of soft accessories and an understanding of designing knitted products.
  • Outstanding communication skills and excellent organisational skills are vital, as is the ability to manage your own time.
  • A solid basic knowledge of Illustrator.
  • Able to work well under pressure, have a positive “can-do” attitude and won’t be afraid to get stuck in and hit the ground running!

This role would ideally suit a graduate with some industry work experiience looking to get into a desgin role.
