Job Description

This growing lifestyle casualwear brand, known for their stylish, wearable daywear is recruiting for a creative womenswear designer.  You will be someone who enjoys designing multi apparel, as you will be part of a close knit design team, and you will be accountable for outerwear to knitwear.

Designer  - The Role:

  • To design commercial, trend led womenswear collections with a focus on outerwear/ and or knitwear (fully fashioned and cut & sew).
  • Identify and update bestsellers to drive repeat business. Translate trends to ensure they are ‘on brand’ ensuring the DNA of the brand is always at the heart of each design
  • Develop and maintain an indepth understanding of the market, comp shop/report and attend trade shows
  • Produce detailed tech packs and brief suppliers confidently.
  • Work collaboratively with garment technologist from concept.
  • Develop new trims and be confident in fabric selection and fit for purpose.
  • Check samples from first fit stage through to SMS.
  • To research and identify latest, seasonal trends; to add newness and to compliment and drive forward existing product lines.
  • Work closely with Head of Design and Creative Director, proactively on new seasonal range build.
  • Assist with styling photoshoots and marketing support

Designer  - The Candidate:

  • 5+ years experience in a similar role within womenswear design (post fashion design or knitwear related degree).
  • Experience with multi products esp. true Knitwear and non-technical outerwear would be advantageous.
  • Good technical background and understanding of garment construction and cost engineering. For outerwear, or especially knitwear ie. yarns, gauges and patterns etc.
  • Keen eye for styling and a natural flare to organise and style photoshoots for new collections.
  • Well organised, experienced in managing priorities to critical path delivery dates.
  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills, ability to liaise with all stakeholders and at all levels within the organisation.
  • Proficient on Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Experience working with overseas suppliers & factories.
  • A team player !
