Job Description

I am looking for an experienced Womenswear Designer who specialises in trends and fast fashion, with the ability to spot them first and be inspired to create up-to-the-minute fashion garments. You will have the autonomy to design what you think will sell, based on your trend research, customer/market knowledge and catwalk analysis. You will be hands on in designing across multi-product garments.

This successful supplier to the Highstreet has several of its own very popular in-house brands which retail on platforms such as ASOS and New Look, as well as in high street concessions up and down the UK and Ireland. They also have their own popular E-tail brand which provides its stylish customers with exciting, trend-led pieces which they can purchase directly from the website and they have also opened their own stand alone store this year with plans for others to follow.

The Role:

  • Identifying future ladies trends within the fast fashion environment
  • Designing trend-led young fashion woven and jersey multi product collections – products range across dresses, tops, skirts, trousers and casual outerwear.
  • Compiling comparative shop reports in the UK and abroad
  • Face to face customers meetings
  • Garment fittings
  • Managing a design team – motivating Junior Designers and ensuring they manage their workload

 

The Candidate:

  • Creative flair and innovation - proactive approach to design.
  • Minimum of 6 - 7 years commercial industry experience required since graduating. 
  • Able to identify key trends and interpret these in a relevant and commercial way for the customer.
  • Must have experience of designing across jersey and woven garments
  • Drawing skills (sketch and CAD).
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced fashion environment.
  • Able to work on their own – take initiative.
  • Strong personality, able to get their view and ideas across effectively at all levels.
  • Communication, interpersonal and influencing skills at all level.
  • Knowledge of Far East and UK manufacturing would be beneficial.
