Job Description

Garment Technologist – The Company:

This is an exciting time to be joining a business, driving for change and looking to recruit an experienced Garment Technologist.

You will be part of the product development team, looking to challenge existing product and bring innovation to range design. Our client is an established brand, who is putting in place the team, and has ambitions to become a leading provider across Europe in mens and womenswear apparel.  An interest in performance led clothing would be desirable.

 Garment Technologist – The Role:

  • Part of a busy development team, looking to ensure through proactive research and analysis, that apparel ranges are aligned to market trends, bringing innovation to the market and developing relationships with key garment and fabric suppliers.
  • To manage the technical development of new garments from prototype to sealed samples and final inspection to meet the product brief and commercial goals.
  • To continuously review catalogue/online and bespoke ranges to improve and evolve them.
  • Oversee the initial manufacture to minimise quality issues.
  • Manage development issues and find proactive solutions to maintain critical path deadlines.
  • Ensure all components and raw materials meet performance standards.
  • Ensure fit consistency across the range.
  • Working closely with pattern technologists to ensure best fit.
  • Advise design & sales force on commercial fit for purpose, and participate in Product Council
  • Meetings as appropriate.
  • To ensure the accuracy and detail of all product specifications including fitting logs and inspection reports.
  • Support and liaise with Pattern technologists to ensure fit and quality standards are achieved
  • Mentor, support and develop junior team members to develop their industry knowledge.

Garment Technologist – The Person:

  • Minimum of 4-5years experience within similar garment technologist/technical management in a fast paced environment.
  • A knowledge of PLM systems would be advantageous.
  • A team player, ability to support and mentor junior team members.
  • Confident knowledge of garment construction and manufacturing methods.
  • A good general knowledge of fabrics, materials, componentry, linings etc.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) ability to liaise with people at all levels.
  • Self-motivated, someone who thrives on responsibility.  A problem solver who can work on own initiative but also a team player with a good sense of humour!
  • Ability to travel both in the UK and offshore as required.
