Job Description

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent fashion graduate with an interest in Menswear Design to join an established and incredibly successful supplier based in North London.

My client has stunning offices in Kentish Town, they offer a lovely working environment and a great package. They are looking for a creative and enthusiastic fashion graduate to join their growing team, the ideal candidate will be passionate about product with excellent Illustrator skills.

Graduate Menswear Designer – The Role & Responsibilities

  • Create directional prints / graphics as required by the Senior Menswear Designer
  • Completing detailed and accurate sample specs for the factories to develop first samples
  • Working closely with the sales team ensuring relevant samples are in work for customers
  • Regularly source new fabrics, trims, and accessories
  • Assisting the Senior Menswear Designer to create commercial and directional on trend outerwear collections each season
  • Working closely with the Senior Menswear Designer to research the season trends and street styles, creating trend boards and fabric concepts each season
  • Ensure showroom is immaculate and well presented at all times
  • Create colour CADs of designs before customer meetings
  • Assist in preparing meetings rooms ahead of each customer meeting
  • Steam, label and photograph all samples
  • Liaising with the design team after customer meetings to put developments into work efficiently
  • Regularly liaising with factories in China to chase new collection samples / customer fit samples
  • Update and organise files to ensure the team can find everything efficiently
  • Any other duties relevant to the position which the Senior Men’s Designer or the Director would like you to undertake
  •  Travel to fabric shows / shopping trips as requested by the Senior Menswear Designer or the Director

Graduate Menswear Designer – The Person

  • Fashion related degree
  • Creative and trend led
  • Organised with excellent time management skills
  • Good construction and fabric knowledge
  • Excellent Illustrator and Photoshop skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Punctual and efficient
  • Self-motivated and willing to learn
  • Passion for product and the fashion industry
  • Must have work experience – ideally completed an industry placement year
