Job Description

Due to rapid expansion, a leading supplier are looking for as Junior Outerwear Designer across their Girlswear Division to join their impressive Manchester Offices.

You will be involved in designing product for a major high street retailer. You will research trends, present customer ranges, create CAD’s and fabric packs, as well as work closely with their factories in China / Bangladesh and Turkey. You will also be expected to attend customer meetings once a week.

This is a fast-paced role but will suit someone who has a genuine passion for Design, as well as the desire to grow and develop.

Junior Girlswear Designer- Outerwear- The Role:

  • Creating and developing original woven design ideas, concepts, embroideries, fabrications, and seasonal themes
  • Sourcing of relevant fabrics to meet the design requirements
  • Developing original themes for seasonal collections
  • Creating specs/tech packs for our factories
  • Ensure critical path is adhered to, and keep on top of all key dates
  • Assist the design process with the ability to use Photoshop and Illustrator at an intermediate level

Junior Girlswear Designer- Outerwear - The Person:

  • 2 years minimum background in Woven Design
  • Educated to degree level with a minimum 2.1 degree in Fashion or other related subject or equivalent practical attainment
  • Have a good understanding of woven construction
  • Creative and trend driven with a good eye for colour and fabric
  • Attentive to detail with the ability to think creatively
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Team player and able to build relationships
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • To be able to deal with all challenges in a calm and positive manner
