Job Description

I am looking for an experienced Ladieswear Designer with solid experience in occassionwear/partywear for a fantastic ladieswear brand based in the North West. This position is to cover a 12 month maternity cover contract but there could be a possibility of this becoming permanent for the right person, as they are always looking for talented people to drive and elevate the brand.

Solid experience in occassionwear is required for this position. My client offers their customers a fantastic range of party dresses and glamorous separates for all occasions, from Christmas party sparkle to the perfect wedding outfit.  I am looking for a candidate with a real passion for designing this sort of product, and someone who can turn their hand to multi product partywear that appeals a broad age range of customers.

Ladieswear Designer - The Role

  • Identifying future womenswear trends for occasion and partywear.
  • Designing a wide range of multi product garments, considering the occasion, the customer profile, previous best selling lines and future trends.
  • Compiling comparative shop reports and being aware of competitor activity.
  • Working closely with technical team and being involved in garments fitting.
  • Liaising directly with Far East manufacturers.
  • Initially a 12 month maternity cover contract.

Ladieswear Designer - The Candidate

  • Minimum of 5 year’s commercial industry experience required since graduating.
  • Creative flair and innovation - proactive approach to design.
  • Able to identify key trends, and interpret these in a relevant and commercial way for the   various customer types.
  • Must have experience of designing across jersey and woven garments
  • Must come from a background in occasion / partywear
  • Drawing skills (sketch and CAD).
  • Able to work on their own – take initiative.
  • Communication, interpersonal and influencing skills at all level.
  • Knowledge of Far East and UK manufacturing would be beneficial.
