Job Description

A unique and exciting role has today come to the market with a progressive online fashion brand and wholesaler in Manchester City Centre.

They are looking to recruit a trend driven Assistant Buyer to play an important role in their Buying team. The purpose of this role is to offer full support to the Buyer in developing a product offer that meets customer requirements and maximises sales and profit opportunities. The Brand is growing significantly & requires a keen product eye.

Theyare seeking a candidate with a strong product knowledge and experience across all womenswear including; softs, wovens, knitwear, outerwear, active & accessories.

Assistant Buyer- The Role:-

  • Applying knowledge of the current competitive market place and trends, and inputting into the direction of the department
  • Working in conjunction with Marketing and Ecommerce, supporting with Campaigns and Photo Shoots
  • Assist the Product Development process from Design brief to launch, liaising with Design, Marketing and other relevant departments
  • Negotiating the best cost price to achieve departmental margin targets
  • Understanding the appropriate sourcing route and Supplier for Product
  • Attending Fit sessions in the Buyers absence give styling comments
  • Managing Supplier relationships and KPI’s, including monitoring sampling requirements in line with projected levels of business
  • Understanding of reports and actions that may need to be taken from Trade
  • Sharing of information where possible on Product, Suppliers, Best /Worst Sellers within the business area
  • Undertake comp shops and market analysis
  • Raise PO’s and action any order amendments. Send out OC’s to suppliers
  • Manage Critical Path
  • Processing samples received (fits, development, shoots/meetings)
  • Maintaining fit spread sheet
  • Undertake risk assessments and SWOT analysis’s

Assistant Buyer- The Person:-

  • Must have 2-3yrs experience in a Womenswear Buying role
  • Experience working with the Far East 
  • Product knowledge and experience across womenswear clothing- ideally trend driven product for the High Street
  • Ideally have experience of compliance working with a diverse supply base
  • Customer knowledge and a strong fashion eye
  • Good interpersonal / communication skills
  • Must have the capability to perform under pressure and work in a fast paced environment
  • Must have solid presentation skills
  • Numerical and analytical skills- must understand how to cost a product
  • PC literate - Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook
