Job Description

Our client is a specialist in high performance and protective clothing looking to employ an experienced garment/pattern technologist into a hybrid role. This position is for someone who enjoys working on a technical product.  To proactively support the sample and specification process from initial design to final production within a product development team. 

Garment/Pattern Technologist- The Role:

  • To proactively support the sample, pattern and specification process to ensure suppliers are fully equipped for production. Ensure the quality and performance of products meet the customer expectations.
  • Analysis of samples to establish desired fit, appearance and construction for bulk production, including any subsequent queries leading to final approval by agreed dates.
  • Travel to offshore factories to supervise sample production or bulk production.
  • Maintain clear and concise communication with the sales and supply chains and communicate this effectively within the internal Organization. 
  • Create clear, accurate product specifications.
  • Identify any manufacturing/pattern faults and report to all relevant personnel and suppliers.
  • Maintain clear concise records of all procedures with documentation of product history.
  • Investigate, evaluate and rectify any subsequent problems within the life of a product ensuring all relevant personnel are informed.
  • Attend meetings with customers and suppliers when necessary.

Garment/Pattern Technologist- The Person:

  • Previous experience within garment or pattern technologist position with experience in both disciplines. The ideal candidate will have performance led clothing clothing/technical apparel experience.
  • A knowledge of CAD pattern cutting programs- Gerber Accumark would be advantageous.
  • A knowledge of high-tech performance fabrics/garment manufacture.
  • Computer literate with good working knowledge of Word, Excel.
  • Awareness of WEBPDM and CAD would be advantageous.
  • Experience of working with garment/fabric suppliers in the UK and oversees.
  • Ability to maintain good working relationship with customers and suppliers.
  • Understanding of product certification.
  • Ability to travel offshore.
