Job Description

Our client is small UK commercial office working with leading fashion retailers and lifestyle brands and are recruiting for an experienced Product Developer.  Their ideal candidate will have swim, lingerie or jersey experience and be a ‘good allrounder’, with strong technical skills and a creative eye!

Please note this is maternity cover for a minimum of 12months.

*This opportunity offers hybrid working with 2/3 days in the office

Product Developer - The Job Opportunity

  • To ensure each customer's range is fit for purpose and meets expected standards working from design packs through to delivery
  • To improve and support innovative technical solutions to improve product, quality, cost and speed of delivery
  • Responsible for maintaining detailed technical specifications and size charts.
  • Measuring garments and fitting, sealing samples with customers and factories/suppliers.  
  • Handling approvals from concept to pre-production, actioning any comments
  • Communicate all technical information directly to the factory, and problem solving
  • Manage and advise all test reports from the factory together with merchandise department
  • Update and manage client online submission sites/systems
  • Accountable for maintaining and managing critical path.

Product Developer - The Person Specification

  • Experience within a similar product developer/garment technical role (min. 4-5 years)
  • Experience with swimwear, lingerie or jerseywear
  • Excellent communication skills, to liaise with offshore factory and customers
  • Confident technical knowledge of garment construction and garment fitting
  • Demonstrate a good knowledge of fabric and base materials ie. requesting lab dips and trims, handling print approvals and testing results.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet the critical path deadlines
  • Ability to manage own workload and be a team player.
  • CAD skills or knowledge of Lectra, desirable but not essential
  • Ability to be able for limited travel as required, dependent on experience level
