Job Description

My client is a specialist in their field of outdoor clothing for women, they have an exciting role within the product team and are looking to recruit a Garment Technologist as maternity cover for at least 1 year, working within the creative team. The opportunity would suit someone who is keenly interested in performance led clothing and to be involved with varied technical aspects of garment development, you will be working across a multi-product ladies wear collection.

QC/Garment Technologist- The Role:

  • Conducting weekly fit meetings & development sessions- to ensure full ownership of the garment sealing process.
  • Produce and send all garment fit comments- accurately communicating with suppliers. Following up on queries ad problem solving.
  • Creating size specs
  • Managing, updating, and controlling the critical path
  • Supplier liaison
  • Garment testing
  • Controlling wash care and garment labelling.
  • Booking and reviewing 3rd party QC inspections
  • Ensuring compliance with product safety and REACH legislation.
  • QC Stock in warehouse.
  • Monitoring, reporting, and reviewing returns on a monthly basis.
  • Leading wear tests trials on new product developments – ensuring all garments adhere to the companies high quality standards.
  • Management of projects to meet the business needs.

QC/Garment Technologist- The Person:

  • Minimum 4 years Industry Experience Essential.
  • Confident & Self-Motivated Garment Technologist.
  • Excellent Communication & Organisational Skills
  • Full working knowledge of textiles, performance fabrics & finishes, garment make up and pattern cutting is preferable.
  • Adaptable & Creative- Will adapt to help fit the business needs as it grows.
  • Ability to work under pressure & to key deadlines within the CP.
  • Proactive team player/ Self-starter 
  • Experience of working closely with returns department, reviewing reasons for stock returns
  • Experience of working with garment/fabric suppliers in the UK and oversees.
  • Ability to maintain good working relationship with customers and suppliers.
  • Understanding of product certification.
  • Must have a can-do attitude and be able to hit the ground running.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word & general knowledge of all Microsoft Products including Business Central (Ideal but not essential)
