12166/2AA Sales Demand Planner

Salford, Manchester

£ salary based on experience + 35 days holiday and benefits

We are recruiting for an experienced Sales Demand Planner/Demand Analyst, ideally with an apparel or textiles related background.  You will be working as part of the Commercial and Contract Management team in a fast paced environment and responsible for creating, monitoring, analysing and improving the demand forecast for the business, short and long termTravel to Head Office in Northern Ireland will be required.

Sales Demand Planner – The Job Outline

  • Provide Consensus forecast of future demand requirements for existing and new products
  • Develop Demand forecasts based on the appropriate mix of statistical forecasts based on history and forward planning. Design short, medium and long term demand plans which are tailored to each contract considering duration, security, penalties and risk.
  • Monitor trends in forecast error to improve demand planning accuracy, contributing to improving operational performance.
  • System ownership of demand planning business systems.
  • Prepare and maintain relevant demand planning reports.
  • Develop inventory strategies on existing items, new products, and product phase-outs. Closely coordinate and communicate customer action plans with the sales and commercial team.
  • Establish and periodically review Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) where appropriate for demand planning related activities driving process efficiency.
  • Drive the demand planning strategy and continuous improvement making the demand planning function a value-add service, increasing our service offering to the customer.
  • Lead root cause analysis into major forecast variances, refine forecast models and lead initiatives to improve forecast accuracy.
  • Advise on budget provisions annually for demand planning activities

Sales Demand Planner – The Person Specification

  • 2-3 years’ experience in a demand planning role in a medium to large manufacturer.
  • Solid understanding of inventory management practices and procedures
  • Proven experience is delivering business solutions/ continuous improvement
  • Possesses a good mix of business and IT (EXCEL) skills and a high level of attention to detail. 
  • Knowledge of the apparel industry
  • Strong business acumen
  • Business system experience eg. DSX (Demand Planning and Scheduling), ERP, Prima, BI, SAP Business Objects
  • Cross functional engagement
  • Experience in a customer facing role
  • Presentation skills
