Job Description

Our client is a high profile supplier to retailers and brands, looking to recruit an experienced Sock Technologist. Knowing that this is a specialist area, and there is not a plentiful supply of socks experts out there, we are open to applicants from a background in socks, hosiery, seamfree, or knitwear technology. Working across a diverse folio of accounts, mens, womens and kids from fashion to sports.

Sock/Product Technologist – The Job Outline

  • Managing sample approvals from initial fit through to production in line with CP
    Attending customer fit, development and sealing meetings 
  • Creating size specifications and workbooks 
  • Communicating  fit and sealing comments to the factories
  • Required to work on technical innovation projects as well as ongoing technical upgrades
  • Keeping  abreast of customer quality requirements and ensure all suppliers follow these guidelines                                      
  • To input technical information on to customer systems to ensure these are technically accurate
  • Follow up on test reports; ensuring correct testing is completed each season and to the customer’s requirements, working with factories on failures and discussing commercial approvals with the customer
  • Working with the regional offices to ensure all ethical, social, environmental audit reports are up to date and to the customer’s standards
    Liaising with internal design, sales and merchandising teams 
    Travel offshore to factories for development and AQLs

Sock/Product Technologist – The Person Specification

  • Previous experience as a Product Technologist at senior level, with essential knowledge of Sock, Hosiery, Seamfree, Accessories or Knitwear. A knowledge of yarns, gauges, knit manufacturing process.
  • A proactive approach to technical product development
  • Strong analytical problem solving skills and be able to deliver fast technical solutions                                       Experience with high street retailers
  • Experience with working with offshore factories and regional offices. Have an understanding of ethical, social and sustainability requirements
  • Competent IT skills (Microsoft 365 and Office/EXCEL), and customer own PLM systems
  • Must be a confident communicator both written and verbal
    Be able to work on your own initiative and as part of a small team
    Ability to prioritise workload and multi-task various functions
  • Highly attentive to detail
