Description

We are recruiting for a new opportunity for a Fabric Technologist to join a leading brand specialising in beautiful lingerie, swim and activewear. To manage colour continuity process, help source innovative fabrics and components to enrich the range, and to ensure all materials are commercially viable.

Fabric Technologist – The Job Outline

  • To work with designers and material suppliers, in order to set and agree the correct specifications enabling fit for purpose product to be produced
  • To ensure that all materials selected, perform to the specified technical standards and meet UK and European legislation requirements with regard to chemical composition and material finishes.
  • To control the material colour management process in order to maintain consistency and continuity.
  • To create and maintain records of all agreed fabric and trim specifications and to undertake the necessary test procedures to ensure that these specifications are being met providing feedback internally and externally to suppliers and manufacturers when necessary.
  • To manage private label accounts in all aspects of fabric approval, handling all issues arising from delivery of the seasonal range and to manage the CP process to achieve deadlines.
  • To help source new innovative fabrics and components enrich the range. Seek out new developments and improved fabrics to enhance the product offering across multi categories.
  • To appraise performance of material suppliers alongside the wider technical team, by developing a close working relationship and through seasonal follow up meetings and advising on alternative sources.

  Fabric Technologist – Core Skills & Requirements

  • Degree educated with min.3 experience within a similar Fabric Technologist, Product Textile Technologist role within apparel industry.
  • A good working knowledge of technical requirements of colour perception and evaluation, and the methods required for setting and testing material specifications.
  • Ability to build good working relationships with internal/external customers and suppliers/manufacturers.
  • Demonstrate flexible approach. Contribute to the development of new ideas and initiatives.
  • Ability to manage and take ownership of own workload, adhering to agreed priorities and deadlines.
  • Good commercial awareness -to understand the manufacturing environment and the implications of information supply delays.
