My client is a well-established garment manufacturer, based in the West Midlands, with a reputation for delivering quality design, service and products which has won them prestigious growth and preferred supplier status to a number of top High Street stores and Brands. They are looking for a Merchandiser with an understanding of Garment Technology to join their expanding team.
Merchandiser / Garment Tech- The Role
- Responsible for raising orders and sending these out to factories.
- Ensuring that all the information, style, fabrics, trims, prices, shipment date plus all other relevant items are correct and as per customer requirements.
- Liaising with customers regarding orders, problem solving and making decisions in conjunction with team leader and if required with Director.
- Ensuring customer requirements are achieved through all stages of the critical path from samples, orders, pre-production to final delivery.
- Ensuring all parcels to customers and factories are with correct information.
- To ensure effective communication at all levels, internally and external
- When required attend customer meetings to ensure continued customer satisfaction and that all opportunities are capitalised on.
- Reporting to the Team leader / Director with weekly and monthly updates, on critical path and escalating issues where necessary.
- Collaborate closely with the Design team, fostering a supportive, creative environment.
- An understanding and knowledge of garment technology Attending fit meetings in the UK with customers
- Learning each clients fit procedures and processes
- Fitting garments, passing on accurate information to pattern cutters and factories
- Good communication skills with overseas factories
- Creating graded specs
- Working with the Account Manager and the Design team to give the customer a premium experience, so working together on the Account to maintain the critical path and generally giving good customer service.
- Ad hoc duties as required by management.
Merchandiser / Garment Tech - The candidate
- Ability to build excellent customer and supplier relations.
- IT literate with sound experience using Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft programmes.
- Experience of managing fast-paced critical path.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Excellent time keeping and ability to meet short deadlines.
- Flexible approach to working
- Ability to work independently while remaining a cooperative team player.
- Garment Technologist Experience
- Preferably experience of working for a supplier/wholesaler
- Thorough understanding of construction, fit, and sealing processes
- Ability to manage the critical path
- Self-driven with excellent communication skills.
- Minimum at least 2 years’ experience in a similar role
