Garment Technologist – Lingerie & Nightwear – The Job Outline
- Key member of the Technical Team, the primary focus will be on Nightwear & Lingerie categories collaborating closely with the Design and Buying teams.
- Lead fit sessions on given categories, assessing specification, fit, fabric in line with required spec.
- Measure and inspect concept samples, first fits, size sets, and pre-production samples, accurately documenting findings and sharing relevant data to suppliers. Ensure materials, construction techniques, and finishing details are in line with brand standards.
- Leverage AI-powered tools for automated measurement analysis, efficient fit commenting, and effective supplier feedback.
- Manage & evaluate colour & fabric management for your categories.
- Conduct risk analysis for given categories, especially those involving new fabrics or complex constructions, identifying and addressing potential issues early in the development process. Develop and maintain fit blocks and grading consistency to support faster and more reliable product development, benchmarking the market to ensure we are leading & pioneering. Ensure/manage all technical stages of approval within the Critical Path Analysis (CPA), ensuring all timelines are met.
- Maintain regular communication with factories, through email or video calls.
- Actively contributing to cross-functional collaboration, promoting best practices and technical innovation throughout the product development process.
Garment Technologist – Lingerie & Nightwear
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional diploma in Fashion or Garment Product Technology or a related field.
- Minimum 8+ years of hands-on technical experience in lingerie and nightwear, gained within retail brands or manufacturing environments.
- Experience working directly with factories/vendors.
- Fit management experience is essential. Strong understanding of garment construction. Knowledge of pattern cutting, grading is desirable.
- Exposure to fabric risk assessment, construction problem-solving, and bulk production evaluations.
- Familiar with or eager to adopt AI-powered tools for spec comparison, fit comment automation, and virtual sampling.
- Highly proficient in Excel and MS Office; adaptable to new digital tools and systems.
- Strong, confident, communication and collaboration skills.
- Creative, solution-focused providing technical direction to solve problems.
