Recruiting for an experienced Fabric Technologist to work on an exciting and diverse range of multiple apparel projects from concept through to final approval.
Part of a busy Fabric Technical Team working with Design & Commercial teams on all manner of Fabric projects. Liaising with the supply base to obtain sampling in support of such projects. Monitoring and approving pre-production fabric, liaising with design & technical teams on fabric performance and testing, and maintaining effective communication on all technical aspects of the fabric specification required.
This is an initial fixed term contract, and is full time and onsite based.
Fabric Technologist – The Job Description
- Manage Tender requirements for fabric technical information, instruct sample lengths in a timely manner for Tender submission
- Quality and shade matching of all supplier fabric submissions against group master standards.
- Create & maintain Fabric standards & continuity library, inc liaison of results to manufacturing base.
- Liaise with suppliers to obtain costings and development samples.
- Action and follow through lab dips, handlooms and samples requests with suppliers
- Liaise with suppliers managing critical path key dates
- Action and follow through lab dips, hand looms and sample requests with suppliers.
- Co-ordinate the physical collation of tender response submissions.
- Administer due diligence checks on fabrics
Fabric Technologist – The Person Specification
- Previous experience with a Fabric Technical/Fabric Technologist or similar opportunity. A good knowledge and awareness of UK/European fabric testing standards and requirements with strong practical skills.
- Experience in fabric testing procedures.
- The ability to identify and analyze a wide range of materials and ideally knowledge of chemical treatments used to make garments water, stain and fire resistant
- Problem-solving skills and decision-making ability
- Previous experience of maintain fabric standards to commercial requirements.
- Ability to work as part of a team and to liaise with colleagues in other functions within the business.
- Confident communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to prioritise and to switch between different tasks as required.
- Competent proficiency in MSOffice. A knowledge of PLM would be beneficial.
