We are looking for someone who is passionate about fit and garment production to join a well-established supplier to top high street stores and Brands. Someone to oversee the technical aspects of garment production, from initial design through to final garment production. This includes ensuring that garments meet the required specifications, have an exceptional fit and are manufactured efficiently and perform to the highest standards. The role would suit an experienced garment technologist with a strong knowledge of Childrenswear and Menswear .
Garment Technologist - Key Responsibilities:
Sample Management & Fit
- Check and measure samples at all stages to prepare for fitting sessions.
- Conduct and participate in fit sessions, reviewing garment prototypes for fit, size consistency, and style alignment.
- Provide clear, accurate written amendment instructions to factories and maintain fit logs and technical documentation.
Technical Support & Construction
- Offer garment construction and design support, ensuring design concepts are achievable and practical for production.
- Collaborate with buyers and designers to assess samples and provide technical advice to improve manufacturability.
- Work closely with overseas factories to ensure tech packs are clear, resulting in a high first-time sample success rate.
Quality Assurance
- Conduct quality inspections at various stages of production to maintain high standards of workmanship.
- Identify and resolve quality issues early in the production process.
- Measure incoming samples against specifications to ensure accuracy.
Fabric & Testing
- Analyse fabric testing reports (woven and jersey) based on customer requirements.
- Advise on care label instructions in line with test results.
Supplier & Manufacturer Relations
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and manufacturers.
- Ensure smooth communication and collaboration across all stakeholders.
Garment Technologist - Required Experience & Skills
- Previous experience as a Garment Technologist, ideally within menswear and childrenswear.
- Strong knowledge of garment construction, production procedures, and critical path management.
- Experience working directly with manufacturers and overseas factories.
- Excellent attention to detail, with a strong sense of shape, proportion, and quality.
- Ability to work with speed and accuracy in a fast-fashion environment.
- Strong organizational skills, accurate record-keeping, and a flexible approach to work.
- Effective communication skills and a collaborative team player.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience in Excel for workbook creations.
