We are looking for an experienced Senior Girlswear Jersey / shape Designer to join their collaborative creative team, you'll work closely with the in-house graphics and print designers to develop end-to-end collections, from initial concept through to final product, in a fast-paced and inspiring environment.
This is a hands-on, client-facing role where you will take ownership of the shape and design process from initial concept through to production. You'll be responsible for creating commercially relevant silhouettes, ensuring exceptional fit and proportion, and balancing creativity with commercial requirements. Working alongside our talented graphics and print teams, you'll help deliver cohesive collections that meet the needs of some of the UK's leading retailers.
As a senior member of the team, you'll combine traditional design expertise with modern digital and AI-assisted tools, ensuring every collection is trend-driven, commercially viable, and delivered to the highest standards of quality, safety and value.
Senior Girlswear Jersey / shape Designer - Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of trend-led, commercially successful girlswear jersey collections across multiple age groups and retail sectors.
- Research and interpret seasonal trends, colour palettes, fabrics, silhouettes and consumer insights, translating them into commercially relevant collections.
- Produce high-quality CADs, mood boards, range plans and detailed technical packs suitable for sampling and production.
- Collaborate closely with our in-house graphics and print designers to create cohesive, customer-focused collections.
- Present concepts confidently to clients, buyers and account managers, building strong, long-term working relationships.
- Source and develop fabrics, trims and finishes that meet each brand's aesthetic, quality and cost requirements.
- Ensure excellent fit, proportion, age-appropriateness and compliance with all relevant childrenswear safety standards.
- Balance creative vision with commercial targets, pricing and manufacturing constraints to maximise retail performance.
- Embrace emerging digital design technologies and AI-assisted tools to enhance creativity and efficiency.
- Travel internationally for trend research, trade shows, supplier meetings and factory visits when required.
Senior Girlswear Jersey / shape Designer - What We're Looking For
Essential
- Minimum of 7–8 years' experience designing girlswear, with a strong focus on jersey.
- Proven experience designing for high-volume retailers, supermarkets or major high-street brands (experience with Primark or similar retailers is highly desirable).
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, with the ability to produce production-ready CADs and technical packs.
- Strong understanding of garment construction, fit, grading, proportion and childrenswear safety standards.
- Excellent commercial awareness with the ability to design products that achieve target costs, quality standards and sales objectives.
- Confident presenter with excellent communication and client relationship management skills.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects and seasonal deadlines in a fast-paced design studio.
- Full right to work in the UK.
Desirable
- Experience using AI-powered design tools or digital product development platforms.
- Experience designing across multiple retail channels, including supermarket, high street and e-commerce.
- Knowledge of fabric sourcing, trim development and overseas manufacturing.
- Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Fashion Design, Textiles or a related creative discipline.
