We’re looking for an experienced Garment Technologist to join a busy Technical Team on a full-time contract basis.
This is an exciting opportunity to work across multi-category womenswear for a diverse portfolio of fashion and high-volume retailers. You’ll play a key role in ensuring the fit, quality and technical standards of garments from initial development through to production, working closely with both owned and third-party manufacturing partners.
Garment Technologist – The Role
- Work closely with Sales, Design, Product Development and customers to understand development requirements and deliver new samples effectively.
- Lead and manage fit meetings, ensuring clear and accurate communication of comments between customers and factories.
- Manage submissions, approvals, lab dips, lap dips and test reports.
- Produce accurate, detailed technical specifications and technical packs for factories.
- Identify and resolve technical and production issues, providing practical solutions throughout the development process.
- Keep all technical information, specifications and product details up to date following internal and customer sample reviews.
- Monitor samples throughout the manufacturing process against the critical path, ensuring deadlines, quality standards and specifications are consistently achieved. Communicate fit comments clearly to factories and follow through to ensure required amendments are actioned.
- Travel occasionally to offshore factories to assess products at Pre-Production and Production AQL stages, as well as attending customer meetings and visits when required.
Garment Technologist – Skills & Requirements
- At least 5 years’ experience in a similar Garment Technologist role; experience within a supplier environment is highly desirable.
- Strong experience across multi-category womenswear, including both woven and jersey garments.
- A proven track record of establishing and maintaining quality and fit standards with factories.
- Excellent hands-on knowledge of the fit process, from initial development through to final production samples.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to work effectively with everyone from factory teams to senior management.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise a busy workload and manage multiple deadlines.
- A proactive, self-motivated approach, with the ability to take ownership, solve problems independently and contribute effectively as part of a team. Flexibility and willingness to travel within the UK and offshore for customer meetings and factory visits when required.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Full Right to Work in the UK.
